Members from the boberdoo team attend various conferences throughout the year and LeadsCon Vegas and LeadsCon New York have been ones that we have always gone to. In fact boberdoo has exhibited at every LeadsCon since its inception. This summer, the conference was held in New York and had a slightly different format. There was even a different name: Connect to Convert. We were one of the exhibitors at the show and we also ran a market research study on the attendees, so we wanted to share the top 3 things we learned from the conference as well as the results of our study.
New Conference Floor Format
This year, instead of every company bringing in their own posters and exhibit materials, we simply sent our banner designs to the team at LeadsCon New York who printed them out and had it ready for us when we arrived. In our opinion, this was a very interesting format change. Although the costs went up, there were several advantages to having everything set up this way. First, we didn’t have to bring our posters and materials all the way to New York. If you've ever exhibited, you know that traveling with these can be quite the hassle. In addition, the whole space looked rather nice with all the booths being in the same format, rather than every company coming up with their own ideas on how to set things up.
Low Attendance
Although we don’t have official numbers, it felt as if there were a lot less people attending the conference this year. There could be various reasons for this happening, but it was definitely felt. Not only were we able to speak with less people than usual, but we also observed a noticeable decrease in overall traffic through the aisles. This is definitely not great, but we did focus more on meeting our current clients and exploring ways we can grow our partnerships further with them instead.
Our Market Research Study
We conducted a brief survey of the attendees and gave out an Amazon Echo Dot to one lucky winner. We first of all, want to congratulate the winner who was Debbie Conrad from The Lead Group.
We were also able to gather some insightful information from this survey summarized below.
- Most People Attended the conference to either build new relationships or meet current clients/partners.
- About 40% of our respondents considered themselves Lead Gen companies or Lead Sellers with the rest being buyers, software providers or other.
- The top Verticals represented were the Insurances (Auto, Home, Health) as well as Mortgage and Solar.
In summary, LeadsCon New York proved to be a valuable opportunity for us to meet with existing clients. However, without a greater showing of lead generation companies, it simply won't live up to other conferences such as LeadsCon Las Vegas.
