Ping Post and The World Cup: What they have in common may surprise you

The World Cup

Tim Howard leaps and grabs the ball out of mid-air. He looks up and surveys the field in search of an open teammate to relay the ball to. He sees that all of his teammates are covered except for one: Michael Bradley. Bradley immediately calls out for the ball, already knowing exactly what he wants to do with it. Howard obliges and sends the ball forward to Bradley who sees a charging Clint Dempsey out of the corner of his eye. Bradley delivers a perfect cross forward to Dempsey in front of the face of the goal. Dempsey leaps high into the air and heads the ball, which soars into the back of the net! Gooooooooooooooooaaaal!

Meanwhile in the lead generation industry...

Tim Howard generates a lead from his landing page and sends out a ping to his buyers. Michael Bradley (a lead aggregator) runs the ping through his ping tree, calculates his potential profit margin, and pings back a price. Howard, who doesn't have any other suitable buyers, accepts the ping from Bradley and posts the lead directly into Bradley's lead distribution system. Bradley, who has already calculated and carved his profit margin, immediately sends the lead to his static buyer Clint Dempsey, who has already agreed to buy the lead for $20. Soooooooooooooooooooold!

You see, ping post and The World Cup have more in common than you expected. So maybe our stars on the pitch aren't actually out there sending each other pings, but oddly enough, some of the same principles apply.
